Buttweld Shouldered Ends
Buttweld Shouldered Ends

Buttweld Shouldered Ends for Rapid Connection and Disconnection.

They provide a superior choice for rapid connection and easy disconnection in highly demanding environments, particularly within the mining and resources sector.

While shouldered systems are traditionally utilised with steel pipe systems, we recognised the industry's need for the flexibility and chemical resistance of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). We have custom-designed a weldable PE100 end that perfectly bridges the gap between traditional two-bolt steel clamps and modern poly piping.

What are Buttweld Shouldered Ends?

A Buttweld Shouldered End is a PE100 pipe fitting designed to be butt-welded onto the end of an HDPE pipe, allowing it to be joined using standard two-bolt mechanical clamps.

Note: These should not be confused with roll grooves. Shouldered ends feature a raised profile (shoulder) that the clamp physically locks around to secure the joint.

The Ultimate Clamp Compatibility

We understand that on-site flexibility is critical. That is why our buttweld shouldered ends are precision-engineered to perfectly suit the industry's most common two-bolt clamps, including:

  • Dixon Clamps

  • Minsup Clamps

  • Victaulic Clamps

While HDPE shouldered ends will not offer the extreme pressure class of heavy-wall steel piping, their unparalleled non-corrosive properties and exceptional abrasion resistance make them the perfect, lightweight alternative for lower-pressure dewatering and slurry applications.

The APS Advantage: The Double Reinforced Shoulder

Unlike standard single-shouldered ends machined from a basic stub flange, our fittings feature a unique double reinforced shoulder (a second lump/ring). This innovative design provides two massive advantages:

  1. Increased Hoop Strength: The secondary ring provides structural reinforcement against outward pressure, ensuring the joint remains rigid under load.

  2. Extended Lifespan & Reusability: In abrasive slurry applications, pipe ends eventually become worn or scored. Our double-shoulder design allows maintenance contractors to use a buttwelder's planer/facing tool to simply machine the worn face back to the second shoulder, essentially giving the pipe end a second life.
